Head of the MSU Faculty of Chemistry,
Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS),
member of the Academy, chairman of the Organizing Committee
    Stepan Kalmykov
«The strategic goal of the Mendeleev Olympiad is to unite young chemists from all over the world, to show the boundlessness of chemistry in all senses. That is why the organizing committee of the Olympiad makes every effort to involve as many countries as possible. Last year the Mendeleev Olympiad was held in China, and we attracted the strongest students not only from this country, but also from neighboring countries. This year the organizing committee decided to expand the number of participants from the Western Hemisphere by holding the Olympiad in Brazil. I hope that this decision will attract many new teams from Latin America and allow building bridges, deepening scientific and educational cooperation between the participating countries. The event will take place in the year of the country's presidency in BRICS - one of the largest integration associations in the world, whose priorities include sustainable development and the creation of a common educational space».
Director General of the Andrey Melnichenko Foundation,
    Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee
    Tatyana Zhuravleva
«Last year the Mendeleev Olympiad for the first time stepped outside the post-Soviet space, to China. This year we are expanding the geography again and the 59th IMChO will be held outside the Eurasian continent for the first time in history: in South America, on the territory of Brazil. I am sure that this should become not only a vivid evidence of the development of international scientific and educational cooperation between the BRICS+ countries, but also a symbol of the fact that all borders should be open for young talented chemists».
    The rector of UFMG,
    Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee
    Sandra Regina Goulart Almeida
«We are honored to host one of the largest chemistry Olympiads in the world during Brazil's BRICS Presidency in 2025. The country is adopting many initiatives to promote school and university education, as well as creating continuing education programs for teachers. Brazil needs chemists to achieve its national development goals, so we aim to have more young people choose this science as their future profession. Through the Mendeleev Olympiad, we hope to inspire children to make new discoveries in chemistry and help them connect with talented students from around the world.»
Professor, president of Brazilian Association of Chemistry
    Rossimiriam Freitas
«Transforming the world through knowledge remains humanity’s most valuable—and undoubtedly most inspiring—endeavor. The power of teachers and educational foundations has always been a transformative force, shaping and changing people’s futures. When individual paths change, they can influence the destiny and trajectory of a region, a country, or even the planet—whether in the short, medium, or long term. The International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad (IMChO)—one of the world’s most prestigious competitions in chemistry—has played a key role in identifying and nurturing talented young minds in the field, which remains one of the central pillars of knowledge. For the first time—and marking its first edition outside the Eurasian region—IMChO will be held in Brazil, from May 5 to 12, at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, one of the country’s largest and most respected universities. As a professor at this university and as President of the Brazilian Chemical Society—one of the largest scientific societies in Latin America—I am truly honored to welcome students from all over the world. These are young individuals who will undoubtedly shape their own futures, and the future of the societies they live in.
We warmly invite all students to take part in this remarkable event, and we are deeply proud to host you. A warm welcome to IMChO in Brazil!»
